Blank payscale when adding a new employment

Follow these steps if you are unable to add a new starter due to the error 'Pay Not Set' or a blank payscale when setting up their salary.

This issue occurs when the start date of the employee is prior to the earliest effective date on the negotiating body.

For example, if you are adding a new starter in August but the pay scales on the negotiating body are only effective starting with September of the same year, there will be no pay scales to select from when adding the employee.

There are two options to resolve this:

  • Create a new effective date on the negotiating body that is prior to the employee's start date. The values for the payscales can remain the same, if those are the correct values for this specific effective date.

To do this, please refer to our article on adding payscales with a new effective date.

  • Create the employment with a different start date and amend it later on.
