Before changing the employee's payscale, make sure that the correct settings are added on the employee's post:
Search for the employee and go to their profile.
Click Employment, then Position.
Click Post Details.
Scroll down to Pay Details and click Edit.
Select the correct option from the Negotiating Body dropdown.
Select the correct options from the Grade Lower and Grade Upper dropdowns.
Select the payscale range for this post using the Lower Pay Scale and Upper Pay Scale dropdowns.
Click Save.

If you have followed the steps above and the payscale dropdown is blank, it is possible the employee's start date is prior to the payscale's effective date. If this is the case, please refer to our article on issues with blank payscale fields.
