When you are adding an employee in a post or changing their salary and are unable to select a payscale because the dropdown is blank, this could be due to two reasons:

  • The post the employee is in doesn't have pay details configured correctly

  • The payscales linked to the employee's post have an effective date that is in the future

Check the post's pay details

  1. Search for the employee and go to their profile.

  2. Click Employment, then Position.

  3. Click Post Details.

  4. Scroll down to Pay Details and click Edit.

  5. Make sure that the correct negotiating body is selected.

  6. Make sure the correct lower to upper grades and payscales are selected.

  7. Click Save.

Check the payscale's effective date

  1. Go to Setup, then Settings.

  2. Click Module Settings, then Payroll Settings.

  3. Click Pay Grade and Payscale.

  4. Click the arrow next to the negotiating body that the employee is on.

  5. Click the Effective Date dropdown at the top.

    • If the only available date is in the future, you will not be able to select these payscales at this time, until the date comes.

If you have checked and are certain that the future payscales should have the same values at present, you can add a new effective date that is not in the future but has the same values.

To do this, follow the steps in our article on adding a new effective date on a negotiating body.
