The holiday entitlement will change for employees based on their length of service, if it has been set up this way.

For more information on setting up the length of service settings on a holiday entitlement template, please follow the steps in our article on creating holiday entitlement templates.

When does the holiday entitlement change based on the length of service?

The holiday entitlement will change for an employee on the first day of the absence period that includes their anniversary date.

For example, if an employee reaches their sixth year of service on 1st May, but the absence period that includes this date starts on 1st April, their entitlement will change on the 1st April.

It is not possible to set this up so that their entitlement changed on the 1st May.

In this example case, if you need to deduct days from the holiday entitlement you will need to calculate how many days to deduct and then make a manual adjustment to their leave balance.
