TLRs can be set up as either Cash Payment (which will prompt you to enter a cash value when adding it to an employee) or Number of Units in Decimal (which will prompt you to enter the number of hours).

If you can only enter hours when adding a TLR as an addition to basic pay for a user, you will need to change the pay element or create a new one.

⚠️ Important: Please consult with your Payroll Agent before making any changes to existing pay elements or creating new ones.

Amend the TLR

  1. Go to Setup, then Settings.

  2. Click Module Settings, then Payroll Settings.

  3. Click Pay Element.

  4. Search for the TLR and click it.

  5. Select Cash Payment from the Type dropdown.

  6. Amend any other options as needed and click Save.

πŸ“Œ Note: This will change the way the TLR behaves when added from this point onwards for any users in the system.

Create a new TLR

If you have consulted with your Payroll Agent and they've advised setting up a separate TLR instead of amending the existing one, please follow the steps in our article on setting up a TLR and make sure to select Number of Units in Decimal from the Type dropdown.
