Create a post

Create a new post and set up its salary and approval settings.

To set up a new post in the system, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Admin Menu and click Post Setup.

  2. Click Add Post in the top right.

  3. Select the name of the post from the Job Description dropdown.

  4. If the name you need isn't listed, click Add New.

  5. Enter the name of the new post in the Description field and a title code in the Code field.

  6. Choose where in the organisation structure you need this post to appear in by selecting an option in the Department, Division, Section and Subsection dropdowns.

  7. Select the correct contract options under Full Time / Part Time and Contract Type.

  8. Enter the post's payroll code in the Post Reference field.

  9. Select the payroll the post will be linked to from the Payroll dropdown.

  10. Select the negotiating body from the Negotiating Body dropdown.

  11. Enter the lower to upper grades the payscales.

  12. If the employee is paid based on their number of contracted hours, select the option 'Paid for contracted hours/shifts' in the Paid dropdown.

  13. If they are paid based on the claims or timesheets they submit, select 'Paid for hours or shifts worked'.

  14. Click Save.

⚠️ Important: The payroll code entered in the Post Reference field needs to be unique in the system and can be no longer than 6 characters (numbers and letters).

Please communicate the post's payroll code to your Payroll Agent once this has been added in Access Education People, as they will need to make sure the code matches in the Payroll software.
