The monthly, daily or hourly rates will have a red cross on an employee's Basic Pay page in the cases below:

  • The employee is on a zero hour contract - If the employee has zero contracted days and hours on their salary, the system will not be able to calculate a monthly, daily or hourly rate. This is because the calculation relies on the value entered in the Contract Days and Contract Hours fields. If the value is zero, the calculation results in an error.

  • The calculation uses an incorrect parameter - The monthly, daily and hourly rates are determined by the calculations on the calculator assigned to the employee. If the calculation has a typo or relies on an invalid parameter, the calculation will result in an error.

Zero contract days and hours

If the employee should have contract days and hours but this is currently set at zero, you can change it by following the steps in our article on changing an employee's contract days.
