When a user tries to access a menu or area of the system that they do not have access to, they will see the message 'You do not have permission to do this'.

The message will always provide the permission that the user is missing in order to access the menu or area.

To resolve this:

  1. Ask the user to provide a screenshot of the error they have received.

    • This will display the permission they need. The message will be 'To view this page (...) you require the permission:' followed by the permission you need to add to the employee.

  2. Search for the user and go to their profile.

  3. Click Security, then Permissions.

  4. Click Edit Employee Permissions.

  5. Search for the permission as detailed in the error message.

  6. Enable the view, edit, add or delete options by clicking each icon and setting it to green.

  7. Click Save.

The message will be similar to the example below:

If you are getting the error, the permission will need to be added for you by your manager or a System Owner user by following the steps in our article on adding permissions.
