Set up an employee's Parental Entitlement

First, set up the employee's Parental Entitlement to determine the maximum number of days they can book as Parental Leave.

  1. Search for the employee and go to their profile.

  2. Click Absence, then Parental Entitlement.

  3. Click Edit.

  4. Enter the number of days in the Entitlement Days field.

    • This will be the maximum number of days per absence period that the employee will be able to book as Parental Leave.

  5. Click Save.

Create the Parental Leave absence class

The second step is to set up the absence class to be used when booking Parental Leave.

  1. Go to Setup and click Settings.

  2. Click Module Settings, then HR.

  3. Click Absence Class.

  4. Click Add Absence Class.

  5. Select Leave from the Type dropdown.

  6. Add in a Description, for example 'Parental Leave'.

  7. Add an Absence Code.

    • This can be anything up to 6 characters (numbers and letters) and will export to Payroll. It needs to be unique on the system (no other absence classes should have this code).

  8. Tick the User Can Select box if you want employees to be able to book Parental Leave from Self Service.

  9. Tick the Parental Leave box.

  10. Click Save.

Book Parental Leave

The employee can either book Parental Leave from Self Service, if you've enabled this setting, or you can add it for them by following the steps below:

  1. Search for the employee and go to their profile.

  2. Click Absence, then Leave.

  3. Click Add Leave.

  4. Select the Parental Leave absence category.

  5. Add in the dates an click Submit.

This will now deduct from the employee's Parental Leave entitlement. If you navigate back to their Parental Leave menu, you will notice a new line under Booked Parental Leave with the details of the leave that's been added for them.
