Version 2.76 release notes

We're pleased to announce version 2.76. This release adds the ability to send a test email from an email template and fixes several bugs.

What's new

Send a test email from an email template

Administrators can now send a test copy of a saved email template to an employee or to any email address. Use this to check the subject, body layout, merge fields and attachments before the template is used in a real process. Only users who can already open the Email Templates settings can use this feature. Letter templates don't include this option.

To send a test email:

  1. Click Content, then click Email Templates.

  2. Open a saved template, then click Send test email.

  3. In the Send to field, type the name of an active employee who has a work email address, or type any email address.

  4. Click Send.

After you click Send, a confirmation shows the recipient. The test email includes the template's saved attachments.

📌Note: The test email sends the last saved version of the template, not any unsaved changes.

If you choose an employee, the merge fields show that employee's details. If you type an email address, each merge field shows TEST- followed by the field name, for example TEST-Surname.

Bug fixes

This version also includes the following fixes:

  • Holiday balances are now calculated correctly for employees who change from salaried to hourly paid working. The Accrued value also displays correctly.

  • Attachments on leave requests, sickness records and schedule events now download with their correct file name.

  • Arbor error emails now include the employee's name, so you can see which employee caused the error.

  • The sickness total now calculates correctly for absences that use a working pattern.

  • Reopening an existing part-day absence no longer halves its hours again. For example, 3.5 hours no longer shows as 1.75.

  • Absences that did not sync to Bromcom now upload when you open the absence and click Update. From version 2.76, the retry button also resolves this.

  • When you use Transfer Employee / Change post, the old position's end date in the School Workforce Census (SWC) export is now the day before the new post starts.

How to access this update

This version will be available automatically from Thursday 15 October 2026.
