If you are in the process of changing values for payscales on a negotiating body and receive the error 'Hourly rate for Salaried Staff calculator. Calculation failed to return a result when updating Payscales' when trying to save, this will be because of an incorrect parameter in the hourly rate calculation.
A common parameter that is incorrect is WorkingWeeks or WorkedWeeks.
If your calculation has this parameter, for example [AnnualSalary] / [WorkingWeeks] / [FTEHours], then this is what's causing the error.
You will need to temporarily replace the calculation while editing payscales, after which you can go back to your original calculation.
To resolve this:
Go to Setup, then Settings.
Click Calculators.
Select the relevant calculator (the default one is the Payment Standard one).
Scroll down to Hourly Rate for Salaried Staff and click Edit.
Take a note of the current calculation, as you will need to add this back.
We recommend copy-pasting this into Notepad or document, to make sure you don't forget it.
Replace the calculation with [AnnualSalary] / [WeeksInYear] / [FTEHours].
Click Done and Save.
Go back to your negotiating body and make the changes you were trying to make.
Once everything is updated, go back to Calculators.
Click Edit on the Hourly Rate for Salaried Staff.
Enter the calculation as it used to be and click Save.
