A major upgrade to the Single Central Record is on its way - bringing deeper integration, automated role‑aligned checks, live compliance scoring and clearer visibility of expiries, all within Access Education People. Designed around the features HR teams have been asking for, the new SCR delivers a more accurate, more automated and more proactive approach to safeguarding compliance across your trust.
In this edition, you’ll also find guidance on upcoming maternity pay changes, new workshop dates to help your teams get the most from Edu People, and a customer story from Rainham Mark Education Trust on building confidence through better HR systems.
Calculated compliance score for every record
Each individual record now carries a live compliance score based on the completeness and currency of required checks, rolling up to establishment and MAT level. A clear picture of your safeguarding position, every day, not just ahead of an inspection.
Checks aligned to position type, automatically
Aligned with KCSIE 2025 and maintained with annual updates, the system matches required checks to each individual's role. When someone moves to a new position, their check obligations update automatically closing the gap where requirements can be missed during transitions.
Deeper integration with Access Education People
Employee details, post, employment dates, and background check data now flow directly into the SCR from Access Education People. Starters, leavers, and role changes are reflected automatically, keeping your SCR current without any additional data entry.
Expiry visibility and configurable thresholds
A dashboard view surfaces every check approaching expiry, colour-coded by status. Crucially, you can now set your own notification windows to reflect your school's specific safeguarding policies, rather than working within fixed system defaults.
DBS integration via Access Screening
Initiate and track DBS checks directly from within the SCR. Certificate details and confirmation statuses flow back automatically into each individual's record, end to end, in one place. (Access Screening is available as a separate purchase).
We’ve delivered a range of quality‑of‑life improvements and bug fixes across the system, from document handling to pay, reporting and permissions. Explore the full list of updates.
