By default, Education People uses the calculation [AnnualSalary] / [WeeksInYear] / [FTEHours] to obtain an employee's hourly rate, based on their salary and the number of FTE hours you've entered for them.
β οΈ Important: The hourly rate that is calculated does not export to Payroll and does not affect an employee's pay. To ensure an employee is paid at the correct rate, make sure their pay scale and contracted hours are entered accurately.
Change the hourly rate calculation to use working weeks
If you want to change the calculation to use the employee's working weeks instead of the weeks in year:
Go to Setup, then Settings.
Click Calculators.
Select the calculator used for the employee (in most cases this will be Payment Standard).
Scroll down to Hourly Rate for Salaried Staff.
Click Edit.
Enter your formula as needed, replacing [WeeksInYear] with [WorkingWeeks].
For example: [AnnualSalary] / [WorkingWeeks] / [FTEHours]
Click Done, then Save.
π Note: Once you change this setting, the calculation for the hourly rate will be applied to all employees in the system. It is not possible to change the calculation for one employee only.
Where can you see an employee's working weeks?
The employee's working weeks are entered in the first field of their term time fraction. Please follow the steps in our article on adding a term time fraction in order to ensure this has been entered correctly.
